Kids get stuck between separating parents...
|
....one in four of us! But two helplines have just closed. Government has no money. No-one is doing anything about it - so we are going to! We are a group of 20 students in two schools, Hereford Cathedral School and Crickhowell High School. We have been challenged by Agony Aunts from the national media - including Deidre Sanders at The Sun, Denise Robertson of ITV’s This Morning and Zelda West-Meads from The Mail on Sunday - to lead a national campaign. The campaign will tell the story of children in separating families and create a new on-line support for them. It will be the first service for children ever funded entirely by teenagers! We need 980 more teenagers to join us during the next year - if you are a kid in the middle or know someone who is, JOIN US! The campaign will be in The Sun and lots of mother media (we can't publish who just yet, but we will soon!) It all starts in June. We have fantastic support from the Family Division of the High Court (judges), Resolution (lawyers), CAFCASS, National Family Mediation and various children and family charities. We have asked some celebrities who we think could really help us reach children in the middle - if you are reading this page, please say yes to our invitation!! This is a big leap of faith, trusting that others will support our lead. But is there any other way to fill the gap that has opened up than young people taking a lead ourselves? Kids in the Middle will be a place where the experiences of children in separating families can be told, a place where they can find re-assurance from their peers that their situation is not their fault and that it is OK to seek support. They will find expert advice and signposts to places where they can get further help of different kinds. Every penny you donate will go directly to providing a vital one-to-one on-line service to support young people. We cannot do this without you! |
